*I actually wrote this post on Thursday, but I couldn’t it post it until today because I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Although, that would be assuming that Gramps reads this. Oh well, better safe then sorry!
**Also, I would normally include WAY more pictures, but I’m on my mother’s computer and she lacks photos. Sorry!
***Reen is awesome.
For the past three months, I have been running on a speed commonly known as "super". With grad school personal statements, Econ papers, homeworks to grade, field hockey commitments, and all the normal daily doings, my life has been full of busy, beautiful business.
This weekend, I get a break!
Some may think that Thanksgiving Break is going to be a break, but, oh, it's not. I have so much to do that week; calling it Thanksgiving "Break" is really just a tease. This weekend, however, I'm getting a real break. I'm not even going to bring my backpack (ok, well maybe I will).

For 80 glorious years, this earth has been blessed with my grandfather, Gramps.
80 years.
Sheesh.
This man is responsible for six children, sixteen grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
But, you must know, it goes far beyond that.
The set of six kids hold a wide range of careers, and all do great things. I mean, we’ve got a basketball coach, a bank’s operations officer, a stay at home mom who does more things than I could even fathom, an FBI employee (whose job description I’m not really sure of. At all.), a pet groomer who also happens to have poodle royalty running around her house, and a lawyer who is also a member of the National Guard.
They are a caring, loving, and intelligent group of adults. They recognize the importance of family and make it possible for their children to be more than just cousins, but friends as well. They’ve grown up to be outstanding members of society, who act as great examples for their children.
This leads me to those grandkids. Sixteen spunky, unique, freckly, fantastically awesome (if I do say so myself) group of children, teens, young adults, and two old souls. This group is so, well, remarkable, that they each deserve their own blog post. So, I’ll just say this:
They come from terrific parents, and a family that's loud, aggresive, and full of love. We're all pretty great.
There isn’t much to say about those two great-grandchildren…yet. But the world better watch out. They’re a lucky two, and are destined for great things.
My grandfather is very special man. I'm lucky to have such an amazing Gramps.
This weekend, the whole fambam (minus a few) are going up to Connecticut to surprise him for an 80th birthday extravaganza! It’s going to be so much fun, and I can’t think of anyone who deserves to be celebrated as much as my grandfather.
I love you, Gramps. Thanks for making me possible :)
i must be the old soul :-p
ReplyDeletealso? I WANT COPIES OF THOSE PICTURES IN THE LEAVES!!!! :-p
